Tim qualified with a BSc in Physiotherapy from Wits University in South Africa. He went on to further his studies through various courses gaining experience in specific areas of physiotherapy – Running Biomechanics and Rehabilitation being one of them.
The Fundamental Run Clinic is the first of its kind at Cosmetique Clinic and conducted by head physiotherapist, Tim Laxton. Tim will be using his expertise to help runners at all levels to improve their health, comfort, and performance by providing a range of solutions including running-specific injury assessments, treatments, and a customised exercise prescription. The Fundamental Run Clinic is open to all running enthusiasts across all levels of ability. Each session is booked in 15-minute slots between 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday. ONLY Rs500 per session
What to Expect
Each 15-minute session will start with a brief overview of your concerns before formulating a plan of action to resolve it.
The assessment is composed of a Runners Readiness Test that shows your readiness to return to running OR identify poor biomechanics and gives you a chance to fix them in order to prevent injury in the future.
The assessment comprises 5 exercises that use muscles and movements important in running, difficulty performing these exercises will indicate what areas of your body you need to improve.
Using an evidence-based approach, Tim may recommend adjustments to your running technique as well as your adaptability as a runner through a treatment plan, as well as rehabilitation if needed.
The exercise prescription is designed to improve your biomechanics when running. The treatment plan will include rehabilitation exercises and onward physiotherapy sessions with Tim if needed.
